Rogue Agents Promise Iheanacho Riches
MTNFootball.com checks showed that one of the agents from Portugal, who proposed a move to FC Porto for the 2013 FIFA U17 World Cup MVP, promised the boy could pocket as much as 300,000 Euros (more than 60 million Naira) in the first year, while another 350,000 Euros will go to his father James and 300,000 Euros to his grassroots team Taye Academy.
However, these payments will be routed through a Germany-based lawyer, just as was the case when Nigeria U20 star Chidi Osuchukwu was moved from Dolphins to another Portuguese club, Sporting Braga.
This deal was facilitated by a co-ordinator of one of the national teams.
MTNFootball.com further gathered that another agent promised the youngster will earn 10,000 Pounds monthly at a top English Premiership club.
The Cameroon-based agent who brokered the transfer of another Golden Eaglets star, Isaac Success, was not given a chance to make a pitch for Iheanacho even after he travelled all the way to Owerri.
The many uncertainties surrounding Success’ move to Udinese of Italy, which included the fact that the young striker was sold to a fund and not necessarily the club, worked against him in the case of Iheanacho.
However, in all the confusion and promises, Henry Galliano, who was reportedly assaulted by Eaglets assistant coach Emmanuel Amuneke, is still widely regarded as the man to deliver on an overseas deal for Iheanacho.
His partner 'Bob' is expected soon in the country and in the meantime, James Iheanacho has told MTNFootball.com his son will not be talking to the media until he is on his way to his new European club.
