Messi Agrees New Barca Deal
Lionel Messi has signed a new contract with
Barcelona, the club announced via their official
Twitter page.
The Argentine superstar has agreed to put pen-to-
paper on a new deal, just months after losing out to
Cristiano Ronaldo in the race for the Ballon d’Or.
The Argentinian, who will be going to the World Cup
this summer, has struggled with injuries all season
but he is finally beginning to regain some form with
just one game left to play in La Liga.
Messi has scored 28 goals in the Spanish league
this term and the big news will come as a relief to
many Barcelona fans.
Messi was being linked with an audacious move to
Manchester City, but the 26-year-old will be staying
at the club for the forseeable future.
The contract extension will run until 2019 and could
see him earn as much as €20m per season.
