2014 World Cup: Super Eagles got an easy group - Herve Renard
Former Zambia coach Herve Renard has tipped the Super Eagles of Nigeria to do well at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
The Frenchman believes the Super Eagles got an easy draw for the group stages and should be able to make into the knock -out stages of the competition.
“The draw has been more lenient for Nigeria. Considering their great talent, their group seems easy," Renard told RFI.
However Renard warned all the five African representatives at the World Cup not to be carried away with a perceived easy group, citing Korea/Japan 2002 when the defending champions,France crashed out in the group stages.
"We must always be very careful about what we consider as an easy draw. Remember what happened to France in 2002?" Renard said.
"They were drawn with Denmark, Senegal and Uruguay and everyone sent them straight to the next round. It is often a big source of disappointment."
Despite fears that Ghana will have a tough time in Group G that comprises of Portugal, USA and Germany,Renard believes the Black Stars could spring up some surprises.
“Ghana showed their potential in 2010. They were so close from the semi-finals that I really believe in them,” Renard said.
