Barcelona humbled at home by Valencia

Valencia came from behind to stun Barcelona and secure an unpredictable 3-2 victory away at the Camp Nou.

It was first time that Barcelona will be losing at home in the league since April 2012,ending an impressive run of 25 successive wins at the Nou Camp.

Barcelona looked as though they were headed for another routine victory, going in front through Alexis Sanchez's early strike in the seventh minute.

An error from Gerrard Pique just before the break gifted Valencia an opportunity to draw level, with Dani Parejo finishing off a move for 1-1.

Three minutes after the break Pablo Piatti headed the visitors in front, but Lionel Messi leveled for Barcelona, converting a penalty kick to draw level at 2-2.

However Valencia was not finished yet as Paco Alcacer drilled in a goal to land a famous victory against Barcelona on their ground.

"I would say to them [the Barcelona players that everything continues, that we may lose the leadership of the league, but that we will still continue to fight," said Barcelona manager Gerardo Martino.

"We will try to recover the lost ground on our title rivals. We conceded chances to Valencia and they took advantage of them. We need to keep going and keep in mind how much this hurt us today."

The loss meant that both Atletico and Real Madrid have an opportunity of overtaking Barcelona on the La Liga table,if they win their own games.
