Ejike Uzoenyi is an incredible player - Uche Okechukwu
Former Super Eagles defender Uche Okechukwu believes Ejike Uzoenyi has the capabilities to succeed while playing football at the highest level.
Uzoenyi has been one of Nigeria's outstanding players at the African Nations Championship(CHAN)scoring three goals and has bagged three man-of-the-match awards in the tournament so far.
Okechukwu who played for Nigeria at the 1994 and 1998 FIFA World Cups added that Uzoenyi is a quality player that can stand out among the best.
“Uzoenyi’s incredible,” the gentle giant told The Punch.
“He’s one of the best players in the tournament and I’m impressed with his performances.
“I don’t know if he has off-field issues because I haven’t met him. A player’s off-field behaviour is very important. It determines how far he’ll go in the game.
Uche also picked out Eagles right-back Solomon Kwambe for special praise adding that the Sunshine Stars man is “a top player”.
“There are other good players in the (CHAN) team,” he noted.
“The players I watched playing in the competition have more quality than what we have seen.
“I think they will go places if they continue to work hard and discipline themselves.
With many clamouring for the inclusion of some of the players to the 2014 World Cup,Okechukwu lent his voice adding that some of them are good for the tournament.
“Yes, some of them are good enough for the World Cup. Although some of them are playing in a big tournament for the first time, they distinguished themselves.
“Keshi will make the decision if any player in the CHAN team is qualified for a place in his World Cup squad.
“I haven’t spent time with them, but Keshi knows them very well because he’s their coach.”
