Keshi hoping to take Ejike Uzoenyi and three other homebased players to Brazil

Super Eagles coach Stephen Keshi has singled out Ejike Uzoenyi for praise, adding that he hopes the Enugu Rangers player makes the team to the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

Uzoenyi emerged as the tournament's Most Valuable Player(MVP) at the just concluded African Nations Championship(CHAN) helping Nigeria win the bronze medal.

“I can safely say this is Ejike’s tournament and I thank God for him," Keshi told reporters after the third place game against Zimbabwe.

“Ejike did wonderfully well. He made the tournament look like his project and his efforts have been acknowledged by all.”

“He has done well, but there is room for improvement. I hope he makes the squad," Keshi further added.

Keshi also added that he is happy with the overall performance of the whole team, adding that it would be his desire for at least four of the players to make the squad to Brazil.

“From Amokachi to Shorunmu and coach Valere, we spent hours together after dinner or games just strategising. Most times, I speak to the players and they have been too supportive. I want to thank them.

“It will be to my delight if four players from this team we have taken to CHAN can make it to the World Cup in Brazil. But you must be dedicated, respect your club coaches and make discipline your watchword.”
