Manchester City got the better of Arsenal defeating their visitors 6-3 in an entertaining game at the Etihad Stadium.
With game played at so much intensity, coach Manuel Pellegrini's side had the momentum and the upper hand for the greater part of the game,to emphatically pummel Arsenal.
Kun Aguero opened the scores for City, showing good technique to put his side 1-0 up.
Martin Demichelis flicked on a corner kick to him, with Laurent Koscienly not doing enough to curtail the Argentinian striker, who balanced and volleyed in the ball into the net.
Some couple of chances fell to Alvaro Negredo, but Arsenal's defence did just enough to narrow his options.
Just when City were dwelling on possession,Yaya Toure was dispossessed from the ball and Arsenal equalised.
Aaron Ramsey stole the ball away from Toure, setting up Mesut Ozil who looked up and picked Theo Walcott, with the English forward making no mistakes to draw Arsenal level.
But almost immediately Negredo put City in front after being played through on goal, but Koscienly applied pressure on him as his shot went inches wide.
However Negredo finally broke his duck in the game finishing off a brilliant move by City which was started by Yaya Toure.
The Ivorian made amends for his initial error, picking out Pablo Zabaleta in space as he squared the ball to Negredo who slided home for 2-1.
But unfortunately for Arsenal,Koscielny picked an injury in the build-up to that goal,as it is believed he got a deep laceration in his left knee.
Arsenal started the second half brightly and looked to be relieved when Aguero was subsituted with an injury, but it was rather punctured as City extended their lead.
Ozil who had an average game by his standard, gave away the ball in his on half and Fernandiho latched on to the loose ball, after Mathieu Flamini failed to properly deal with the ball, and looked up to perfectly curl the ball into the net for 3-1.
Walcott stepped up on the other end to pull one back, also curling in his effort for 3-2 to open up the game.
City instantaneously scored another goal,David Silva with a good technique switched in Jesus Navas' square ball for 4-2.
It was increased further after Arsenal took off their legs from the pedals, with Fernandinho's persistence paying off as he dinked Szczesny to increase the scoreline at 5-2.
Much as the scoreline magnified City,Arsenal had great opportunities to nick goals, most notably falling to Oliver Giroud who couldn't enforce himself in attack.
However with minutes to the end of the game,Arsenal pulled one back through Per Mertesacker who headed home from close range, but Szczesny brought down James Milner to give away a penalty.
Yaya Toure sent Szczesny the wrong way as they completed the annihilation for the host team, who have now scored an incredible 50 goals at home this season.
Arsenal are now three points ahead of City and pending the outcome of Chelsea's game could be topping the table with just two points.
